This Friday, January 13, 2017, The Knitting Factory will once again play host to Hell’s Belles, the world’s #1 all-female tribute to AC/DC. Joining in the fray will be Boise’s own Judas Priest tribute, Defenders of the Faith, and local talents, Break Surface. Tickets for the show are only $13, and can be purchased HERE. or at the Record Exchange.
Hell’s Belles are first and foremost dedicated AC/DC fanatics. This is what they all have in common. They’re all part of a huge community of devotees to one of the greatest rock-n-roll bands in the world. This is who they all are, and this is what Hell’s Belles strives to deliver with mechanical precision and passionate fury. For over 15 years, the hard rock belles have been destroy stages around the nation playing the best of both eras of AC/DC; Bon Scott, and Brian Johnson. Leading the charge is Adrian “Angus” Conner and her trusty SG guitar. She is joined by bassist Mandy Reed, and vocalist Amber Saxon, with either Lisa Brisbois or Sharon Needles handling the role of Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar. The band recently welcomed its newest belle, Judy Cocuzza on drums, taking over the throne from their longtime thunder queen, Laura Derig.
If some retro AC/DC were not enough, Boise’s homegrown heathens, Defenders of the Faith will light up the stage in tribute to the metal gods, Judas Priest. The timeless music of the mighty Priest has continued to captivate metal fans for over four decades. No other band has remained so prolific and relevant since their inception. Frontman Gerrad Anthony who began DotF in 2008 and resurrected it again in 2014, is ready to bring forth his Rob Halford swagger once again. Anthony recently offered of the January 13th show:
When this line-up got together we all agreed it would be a cool idea if we played a song from another iconic band to jam at our gigs just as a little curveball change-up so to speak to keep people entertained and on our toes. Well it’s finally going to happen, but you’ll have to be there to find out who we pay tribute to. This will also mark the debut performance for our temporary new drummer, Brandon Hedin of Mortal Ashes. He’s stepped in to help us out and and he’s killing it! He joins myself, Sir Robert Walther on bass, and guitarists Doug O’Neill and Josh Taube. Defenders of the Faith will begin a formal public search for a permanent drummer after the Hell’s Belles gig. We haven’t played Boise since last July so we are absolutely jacked for this gig. This will be our last local show until early summer. This coming Friday we plan to rip some heads off right out of the gate by opening with “The Hellion/Electric Eye” and “Freewheel Burning,” followed quickly by “Hot Rockin’” and “Exciter”. The rest, well you’ll just have to come see for yourself this Friday.”
Kicking the night off will be talented locals Break Surface. The band consists of seasoned musicians stemming from popular Boise bands such as Yexotay, No Resolve, Malachi, Lust Greeds Envy, Brutal Season, Wormwood and Grindsole. The quartet is fronted by Timber Van Lom, with Brian Denney on guitar, Anthony White on bass, and Johnny Lane on drums.
