Ripchain have been staples of the Treasure Valley metal scene for years, and have continued to evolve over the course of their career. The band’s current line-up of frontman David Ford, bassist Bob ‘Zilla’ Davis, drummer Tyler Johnson, and lead guitarist Mike Stanley, has arguably been its most potent as evidenced by their most recent EP, Eviscerated. Unfortunately the reality of every day life in a weak economy has struck close to home and the band announced this week the loss of their guitarist and an invite for new guitarists to try out.
Offered David Ford:
“Our guitarist, friend and brother-in-metal, Mike Stanley is stepping down from the band to pursue a huge job opportunity out of state. We hope you’ll join us in wishing him well in his new endeavor! Mike’s last show with us will be June 3rd in Salt Lake City. It’s gonna be a fucking party! Ripchain will function as a 3 piece until another axe master is found.— So now the task of finding his replacement is upon us. We are interviewing interested parties immediately.”
Ford went on to state:
“As of June 4th, Ripchain will be functioning as a 3-piece. Time will be taken in selecting a second guitarist. (One axe is NOT enough!) I encourage any shredders to hit me up if you think you could be the guy OR girl. PLEASE BE LOCAL TO THE BOISE AREA. Experience in a professional band is preferred, but if you have the chops and you bleed the metal, then we’ll hear you out. Our current influences are the likes of Lamb Of God, Devildriver, Gojira and the classics like “Tallica, Slayer and Pantera. Evolution is our thing. Your personal style will be incorporated into our sound should you be selected. Got a busy family life? A possessive spouse? This probably isn’t for you. Otherwise, don’t be a wimp. Hit me up. I want to hear you.”
