Lights, camera, action: Friday night Nonpoint returned to Boise to deliver fans a free concert for 100.3 The X . It was the station’s first free concert of the new year, and it was a stunning way to kick off 2013. Local talents, Bukkit and Ripchain set the table, wowing the capacity crowd, and getting them wound up for the evening’s out of town guests; Candlelight Red and Nonpoint.
Candlelight Red has become a Boise regular. The Pennsylvania based rockers were here in September for the 2012 Uproar Xfest event, and they will turn around and come right back to the Treasure Valley on March 21 with Sevendust and Lacuna Coil. The quartet has recently been working with Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose on its forthcoming sophomore album.
The band performed seven songs including their hit cover of “The Look”; their first single, “Closer”; and their most reason hit, “Demons”. Check out our recent interview with Candlelight Red guitarist Jeremy Edge and vocalist Ryan Hoke.
Nonpoint is riding high on the strength of its latest, self-titled album. Last year vocalist Elias Soriano and drummer Robb Rivera rebuilt the band, bringing in bassist Adam Woloszyn and guitarists Dave Lizzio and Rasheed Thomas. The record features new line-up and finds the band sounding revitalized and more energetic than ever. A sound Nonpoint brought to the stage Friday night.
The guys kicked the set off with “Lights, Camera, Action”, the first of six tracks from the new album which also included “I Said It”, “Pandora’s Box”, “That Day”, “Ashes” and their newest hit, “Left For You”. The band played 14 songs in all, and in the process brought the house down.
Prior to the show I spent a few minutes talking with Robb Rivera about building the new line-up and recording the band’s most exciting album to date. You can check out the full interview below.
